Wikki Stix, the unique waxed yarn creativity toy, traces its origins to a serendipitous encounter in 1989. Kem Clark, a marketing consultant in Phoenix, became intrigued by a small, flexible waxed yarn product, then called Sticky Wikki, invented by a company in Chicago. Recognizing its vast potential beyond what its inventor foresaw, Clark acquired the patent. Renaming it Wikki Stix, she officially launched the product in January 1990. Since then, Wikki Stix has evolved from a simple craft item into a versatile tool used in classrooms for teaching, in restaurants as a clean alternative to crayons, and significantly, in special needs therapy for fine motor skills development and as a calming fidget toy.
